Entry: "Is anyone home???"
I couldn't help but notice how quiet the internet scene has become lately. Sure I know there are a few of my web family taking breaks here and there but recently over the past month or so it has gotten almost like a ghost town around these parts...lol. Just a handful of the peeps I used to vibe with on the regular stop by now, but I've always chalked that up to the fact that other folks have lives too...lol. Just seems to be extra quiet lately...
Once, during a discussion on the job, we were discussing the reasons why my site gets very few visitors who leave comments in comparison to the number of people who visit and don't leave comments. I asked a few co-workers to "evaluate" my site for me, you know like sort of give me their opinion of what they thought of my site and suggest possible areas for improvement. Out of a total of 7 peeps that I asked, everyone seemed to adore it, saying it was beautiful and the artwork was gorgeous. Everyone agreed to a T that there really wasn't much I could do to improve it except possibly "market" my site more and begin selling my art from my site. Everyone except 1 that is. This lone dissenter suggested to me that perhaps the reason I don't get that many visitors and commentors on my blog is because I don't use enough profanity or shocking themes, or in other words, my site is too boring...hmmm. That may be the case then...Oh wellski, knamean? I must have missed that boat for sure then. Especially the part about I don't use enough curse words here...LMAO!! I've visited many a site where profanity is the favorite form of communication it seems, but to me that is their choice, not mine. I myself prefer not to curse on my blog, or at least keep it to a bare minimum, but that is a personal choice for me. I just found it amazing that someone would have the audacity to suggest I needed to curse more to attract more visitors to my blog. Who said cursing anyway makes it appear that you are "keeping it real"??? Frinking bassards....lol.
Anywayz...it's Saturday, dagsnabbit! LOL. Do you guys have any idea how much I have been waiting for the weekend to arrive??? That first week back at work after taking a vacation took its toll on your boy...alls I want is to do the Big Chill. Already I'm thinking of my vacations for next year. I'm thinking of taking all my vacations as Mondays off...LMAO.
6 brothers and sisters helped me to understand.

I too have been frustrated by lack of comments. I know I'm getting traffic, and that some people are lurking for quite a while, so why do they not say something. Surely they don't agree with all the nonsense I write!?!
The situation has certainly got worse since I started using tools like BlogExplosion--most visitors are just clicking through. They're basically just 'hit-whores' and if truth be told, maybe I am too

I'm with FranceN! Seems more appealing and real to have a handful of 'quality' commenters than 25 that'll spatter your board wif fluff, no? And you do know that the skeleton crew which remains, is truly here for you man! Let's all count our blessings for being connected in this tangled web o' blogs Am I a cornball? You know it!
Amen to that my friend! You know I appreciate all who choose to stop and yap with your boy! I really dig the close knit group you included, who seem to have become my regulars :o) Them there some mighty cool peeps indeed! Have a meaningful Election Day! *wink*...G

I think that quality, not quantity are what counts in blog visits & comments. I see comments left here that show people have actually read & thought about what you've had to say.
I'd rather have that then someone saying "Yo, what's up", lol!! Remember Black Planet, lol?
(But I know you already know that).
I myself like to stop by when my life isn't so crazy, so that I can really enjoy what you're saying without being rushed. Your Blog is ALWAYS interesting.
Jeers to your coworker for stating that nonsense! That's like a comedian who uses curse words only to get a laugh. If it doesn't fit with the content what's the use....stupid.
Anyway, see ya' (in spirit) at the polls tomorrow & have a great upcoming week!
Yepper to that France, that is one good thing I've always noticed. The vast majority of peeps who stop and comment really do take the time to actually read what the blog was about. Oh my goodness do I remember BlackPlanet? LMAO...I really do appreciate those who have become my core here though. I'm like you too I guess, I prefer to stop and comment when my brain is able to digest a site so I can enjoy the experience better. I'ts such a pleasure to sustain a mutual vibe from some pretty interesting folk, you included! Happy Election Day!...G

Why on earth would you need to use profanity to get visitors???? Perhaps that's what that person likes to read. Anywho....
Keep doing what you're doing!
Yeah Carla...I do know some people who seem to thrive on being raw like that though, fortunately your homie aint one of 'em...As for me, I'll keep on keeping on! How's things cooking in the Tex?...G

Do You! ok, that's all the wisdom I have for ya, LOL. I'm one of those who think the site is beautiful the way it is, visually and vibe wise.

LOL..I think that is the most ridiculous thing that I've ever heard. That you need to swear more in order to garner enough interest and comments in your blog. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other my friend. Hey, I feel like this. People gravitate to the content of a blog which has nothing to do with profanity, but the "content."
As insightful as your blog is my brother, I say it garners enough attention from this cat to warrant repeat visits as is. I know that I've been MIA from the web lately, but for some strange reason, it seems as though ALL of my buddies are bogged down by their job. In fact, I did some OT today. The first in awhile, and also the first of many.
It leaves very little time for much else. Anyway, I'm on 1 of those all-out rants of mine. Keep your site tight man. It's perfect just the way it is. And I'm feeling these Autumn colors. Very chic. And the artwork, tight as always. Peace my man!
Aye Frank..ridiculous indeed. I pretty much had chalked it up to it being a matter of that person's personal preference as to what they like to read...Content should always be the main draw, at least it is with me. Indeed everyone is bogged down by job issues and life issues too, all perfectly understandable too. Just remember to take some quality "Frank time" up in there somewhere, ya hurd? :o) Peace...G
