Entry: "just wondering"
why there is a liquor store on just about every corner in most inner cities but they are few and far between in the suburbs or other communities?
why a lot of black folk tolerate black on black crime by looking the other way but let a person of another race commit a crime against them and they ready to march in the streets?
why it's OK to encourage our youth to be sports stars and musicians but we frown upon those who pursue academic perfection?
why do folk scream and yell at the poilice when they come to arrest someone, yet who do they call upon when they getting mugged or robbed?
why other drivers on the road drive slow as all hell...UNTIL you try to pass them, then they take it personal and become Speed Racer?
why is it that people let their kids run wild like aminals in the street, yet as soon as they get in any kind of "trouble" with the law or something bad happens, the first thing out their mouth is.."My Johnny's a good boy and would never do something bad like that"??????
why is it so dayum hard for other people to simply acknowledge a hello or how are you when you pass them on the street instead of avoiding eye contact or ignoring the greeting altogether?
and last but most definitely not least....why do we as a people tolerate the way our women are portrayed in most music videos as skanks, sluts, and hoes? It really anguishes me to hear our young women singing and dancing to the very songs where they are being called batches and whores...*sad, so very sad*
Just a few of the things that made me go..Hmmmmmm...
10 brothers and sisters helped me to understand.

i'm taking a chance. saw your comment on critic's site.
i think that people are just scared to say hi/hello. because what if the stranger you're attempting to say to, doesn't say hi back? Or worse, looks at you like your crazy? it'd be the end of the world! (not)
and, i too hate to see the way women (or should i say girls) are portrayed in videos. i have 3 nieces, and they live on BET - i'm always reminding them that 'that' isn't real life. 10-15yrs ago, i had salt & pepa and tlc - fully clothed females, representing.

lol...yeah Frank...I actually have figured out how to make other drivers go faster when they driving in front of me going 10 miles an hour on the Beltway...just attempt to pass them and soon enough you'll be sailing along like it's the Indianopolis 500! LOL..Have a good one bro!...greggy

Amen greggy, great post. I feel the whole "liquor store on every corner" complaint..
Yeah...I swear here in Baltimore there really is one on EVERY corner in the inner city. I wonder how the hell they stay in business with all that competition? LOL. A crying shame too, liquor stores outnumber schools, churches, and hospitals....go figure, huh?...greggy

Hey Nina...No need to offer apologies, we all have to take time out every now and then to take care of more important things in life. Handle your business my friend, I'm sure you'll find your way back eventually in due time whenever you see fit. Take care, ok?...greggy

so very true brother. Its amazing what we support. Thats the key word to me...if we didnt allow it but support thru non-action or actual support- it wouldnt be like this...WE need to change things.
What a great way to put it all in perspective bro..."if we didnt allow it but support thru non-action or actual support- it wouldnt be like this"....like you said, so very true. Inaction in the face of crisis is just as worse as actually causing the crisis itself, yes?...G

G, your questions couldn't be more on-point. I've got another for meditation: Why are there black churches on every corner in many poor neighborhoods, yet their surroundings are dilapidated and overgrown? Well, that leads to another: Why are some of our ministers quick to pass the collection plate, but not to help rebuild what's falling down around them? For the two-centers that will come along, this ain't about every black church, just quite a bit of them. Thanks for the space to air myself, G.
Girl, you know you welcome anytime to spread your light into the dark recesses of my site anytime...LOL. I've always remained a tab suspicious of a lot of churches in our community too. Preacher man always be rolling in a big Caddy or Lincoln, and the collection plate for the building fund been getting passed for about 12 years now...LOL. And don't get me started on all those home-made "churches" that have "Inc." after their names...like: "Sanctified Temple of the Greater Light of the Holy Brethen Inc."....yeah right....LOL....greggy
