Entry: "Hello family!"
Hello everyone. I have finally returned to my home to continue my recovery in more familiar surroundings. Again allow me to express my eternal gratitude to everyone of you who made my situation so much more bearable with your prayers, cards, and kindness. I am sure my days would have been so much more difficult without the love and support of so many people who took the time to stop and leave me some love. I am simply overwhelmed at the way people who I've never had the pleasure of meeting or barely even knowing stepped into my life and let me know they were there for me. I will never ever forget any of you for the rest of my life.
Just to give a brief update as to my general condition...I am currently continuing my recovery at home and I thank God every day that I am able to walk and move around again, even if it is much slower and not as long. I completely lost my memory of that day and the events of that day due to a severe concussion that I suffered during the accident. The doctors originally thought I had a devastating brain injury but thank God that turned out to be not true. During my hospitalization, the surgeons had to remove my spleen, so now I have to be extremely careful about picking up germs or getting sick. For those of you who don't know what your spleen does, it is an organ located near your abdomen that helps to "filter" harmful bacteria and germs out of your body. So now I have to be even more careful about running fevers for any prolonged length of time or picking up germs that I normally would be able to battle without any problems. Also I have a few very small "stress" fractures in my lower back that are causing me much discomfort expecially when I sit or lay down for the night. The doctors have told me that these will heal in time and my discomfort should diminish over time. I was also told that my heart stopped at least 3 times while I was hospitalized, so you best believe that I have a much better appreciation for life and everyone who is in my life. I also lost about 20 pounds while hospitalized and I also have a long way to go to recover my strength and stamina to the levels before my accident, but in spite of all these issues I am so BLESSED to be alive, Amen!
My wife Cheryl had a wonderful Homegoing service that was attended by several hundred family and friends and my heart is lifted to know how much everyone responded and made sure she was not forgotten. My comfort is complete knowing she did not suffer too long and her spirit is finally at peace resting with Him. I will always love her and in fact love her even more today than before the accident and she will never be far from my thoughts. God indeed is awesome and I look forward to being a testimony to His greatness to all who need to hear that. So again I thank each and everyone of you for standing with me during my moment of crisis and I mean it when I say..."I love You."
Always with love and respect and until the next time I am able to post, please take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
19 brothers and sisters helped me to understand.

You were on my mind (so much I almost just put your name in the name field, lol). I decided to check and I am so touched that you took the time to leave us this heartfelt and loving message in the midst of your recovery. My continued prayers are with you and you already know that you are blessed. Hold on to that my friend.

I dont know if you can but try taking hot baths with Epson Salt. It has worked wonders for my aching muscles, sprains and bruises. But ask the doctor first cause I know people with Diabetes cant use it.
lots of love to you and serena. xoxox dream

I am overjoyed that you have recovered enough to comment on my site and post an update here. Continue to recover dear brother and know that even though I haven't had the chance to get that card I promised; you have been in my heart, thoughts and prayers daily. I love you too and only want you to focus on getting better both physically and emotionally. Spiritually it sounds like you are well healed! You are truly a positive person Greg. I admire you and am so happy to know your smiling presence is still gracing our blogs from time to time.

OH GREGGY!!! I am SO SORRY to hear of this for you!!!! I haven't been to my site in a more than a month & was shocked to read Cheryls post on my website about you & your wife!! I came here immediately!! My prayers are TRULY with you & I am just sorry that I had been ignoring my site & didn't know of this sooner.
You sound like you are surrounded by a beautiful family & wonderful friends to get you through this & that is truly a blessing.
You are one of the most genuine people I have come across on the net & even when I lose contact I always think of you, Cheryl & the gang. So to know what you've been through & to not have been there via internet makes me feel ashamed.
You sound like a pillar of strength now & I can't even imagine the pain you must be going through (inside & out), but your faith & trust in God is there in you & keeping you strong. Please Greggy, no need to comment on my post. You just take care of yourself..get better..& know that my prayers are with you & your family.
